What is involved with adopting a greyhound?

Complete the application for adoption. You can pick it up at any of our events or fill out the Online Application.

Your application will be reviewed by an adoption coordinator and you will receive an interview call about 3-5 days after we receive your information. If you have not heard from us within this period of time, please call us at 623-340-2650.

We will talk with you about the breed in general and the suitability of your home environment and lifestyle for a greyhound companion.

We will ask you to do some research and think about your decision to make sure this is the right step. We want this to be a "FOREVER" home for our special babies.

After a second phone conversation and all is on track, we will talk about specific dogs in our program that may fit into your home. We will also schedule a home visit appointment and bring out the dog that we have agreed upon meeting.

At the home visit we will assess if the fit is right and make arrangements for the adoption.

The entire process takes about 10-14 days. We do NOT have dogs available for same day placements.

How much does it cost to adopt a greyhound?

Our adoption fee is $225.00.

This fee covers the cost of the spay/neuter, canine dental work, all four annual vaccinations, testing for internal parasites, heartworms, an AVID microchip for identification, a martingale (no-slip) collar and six-foot leash and a basket muzzle. Other groups may charge a few dollars less, but we feel we are providing the most complete package to make the transition as easy as possible for both you and the greyhound.

All of our greyhounds have been in a foster home for at least two-weeks prior to moving into their permanent home. This gives them a chance to learn the social skills needed (i.e. riding in the car, going potty outside, how to use a doggie door, etc.) for moving from racetrack to family home. We are ALWAYS in need of Foster Families and encourage potential adopters to try out this route first. It’s like a 14-day free home trial to make sure that this is the right step for you. All adoptions are considered final and adoption fees are NOT refundable.
